Washington Post – Air Force takes steps to clear path for women’s advancement

In a 2020 Washington Post report, Lieutenant Colonel Cathyrine Armandie, a former F-15E Strike Eagle weapons systems officer, highlighted the severe physical and psychological challenges female fighter pilots face regarding in-flight urination. Having flown over 450 combat hours, Armandie described the “humiliating” necessity of returning from combat missions because equipment designed for female pilots often failed or was non-existent.
